2011 Summer Camps
Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) Athletic Director Matt Richards is proud to announce their summer camp offering for the upcoming summer season. All summer sports camps (now in its 7th summer offering) will be hosted at the college’s ocean-side campus in South Portland.
SMCC will offer a baseball camp June 27-July 1. This will be a day camp that will focus on skill development and games to give the camper an excellent foundation to the sport.
The next camp offered will be the popular Seawolves Soccer day camp. This co-ed camp now in its 7th summer will be co-directed by SMCC Women’s Soccer Coach Adam Perron and SMCC Men’s Soccer Coach Brian Dougher and will also have many of the SMCC soccer players assisting throughout the week which will run from July 11-15. This camp breaks up campers by age and ability and uses skill sessions to teach basic and advanced soccer techniques, then uses small sided games and group contests to enhance the skill development. Whether it is a 4 on 4 beach soccer camp or a competitive break-a-way goal lecture, this camp has something for every soccer player.
“The Seawolves Soccer Camp has been one of our more successful camps over the past six summers. The coaching staff do a great job with the campers”, stated Richards.
The next two weeks bring the always popular Seacoast Hoops Basketball Camps. The girl’s week will run from July 18-22 and the boy’s week will be offered from July 25-July 39. Sign up early for these two camps as they have filled up in the past! SMCC Assistant Women’s Basketball Coach Sabrina Best will be the director for the girl’s week and Head Men’s Basketball Coach Matt Richards will direct the boys week. These camps will focus on developing fundamental skills while incorporating games and competitions to build success.
