2010 Fall Softball Preview
SOUTH PORTLAND, ME - Practice has started for the SMCC softball team and head coach John Moody has been pleased so far. The team will be a mixture of six veterans and eight first year players.
Key returners for the Seawolves are juniors Kim Hunt (Oakland, ME) and Ashley Pulk (Sabattus, ME). Last season, Hunt was the Seawolves only pitcher, however this season; she will have some help to lighten the load. Pulk split time last season as catcher and outfielder. She will continue in this role this year. The four sophomore returners have a season under their belt and will look to help lead this young squad. Stacey Boulette (Fairfield, ME), Brittany Corey (Oakland, ME), Becca Roberts (Litchfield, ME), and Emily Boivin (Jay, ME).
In order for the Seawolves to find success this season, they will need to count on their first year players to step in and make an immediate impact. John Moody will look to Shawnee Slattery (Lebanon, ME), Casey Garrapy (Underhill, VT), and Shelby Moore (Mexico, ME) to spend some time on the mound helping out junior Kim Hunt. All three ladies, will also play the field and contribute with their bats. Freshman short stop, Jillian Withee (Salem Township, ME) will also be a key factor leading the infield for the Seawolves.
The softball team will open up the season with an eight game home stint. First up for the Seawolves is the University of New Hampshire Club team on Saturday, Sept. 18th. First pitch will be thrown at 12-noon.
