Seawolves Finish Off Sweep of Vermont Technical College
South Portland, ME. The Southern Maine Community College softball team completed a four-game sweep of conference opponent Vermont Technical College this afternoon. Game one went into an extra eighth inning and found the Seawolves on top 7-5. SMCC controlled game two and finished with a 7-1 victory.
The Seawolves connected for 15 hits in game one. Leading the way was freshmen Ashley Pulk (Litchfield, ME) who went 3-4 with 2 singles, 1 double and 2 RBIs. Freshman Katelyn Benson (Westbrook, ME) scored a run and connected for 2 hits in game two including a single and a triple. Pitcher Charlotte Lewis (Chatham, NH) got the win in both games pitching 10 innings and allowing only 1 earned run.
The Seawolves improve to 12-9 overall and 8-1 in conference play. The women are in action again tomorrow for another conference doubleheader against College of St. Josephs (VT). Game one is scheduled to start at 2:00PM.
