South Portland - The uptempo, balanced scoring attack of the Lady Seawolves was too much for the Lady Golden Eagles of Eastern Maine Community College as SMCC soared to a 80-46 victory.
The first fourteen minutes of the game were played close but with six minutes remaining in first half action the Lady Seawolves went on a run to close out the half 42-26. The Lady Seawolves out rebounded the Eagles by a margin of 48-18 and forced the Golden Eagles to commit 21 turnovers. Offensively SMCC put all nine players in the score books, led by shooting guard Danielle McCusker (South Portland, ME) who netted 16 points. A trio of SMCC post players racked up the offense, Nyalieb Deng (Portland, ME) dropped in 13 points and grabbed nine rebounds, Jaimi Poland (Skowhegan, ME) knocked in 11 points and Maria Veino (Sanford, ME) chipped in 10 points and six rebounds.
Leading the way for the Golden Eagles was guard Kara Hebert (Emboden, ME) who netted a game high 18 points.
With this win the Lady Seawolves improve to 12-4 overall and 8-1 in YSCC conference play. The Lady Seawolves will return to action on Friday January 17th at the Naval Prepatory Academy at 4pm.
