Athletics Engagement and Academic Report: Spring 2024

SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine— At the conclusion of the semester, Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) Associate Dean of Athletics and Alumni Affairs Matt Richards published the findings of the semi-annual Spring 2024 Athletics Engagement and Academic Report. The report shows student-athlete GPAs and retention rates based on United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) normal progress rules for athletic participation eligibility—a higher threshold than those standards of the College.

CAPE ELIZABETH, Maine—Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) Athletics enshrined three individuals to its Hall of Fame class of 2023 on Friday, May 10.

SMCC Athletics celebrates student-athletes with annual awards banquet

CAPE ELIZABETH, Maine—The Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) Athletic Department held its annual awards banquet on Tuesday, May 7 at Purpoodock Golf Club in celebration of its student-athletes and their many successes throughout the 2023-24 academic year and athletic seasons.

Seawolves conclude season with consolation loss at national tournament

PETERSBURG, Va.—The #7-seeded Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) men’s basketball team was defeated 87-66 by #8 Penn State University Mont Alto in a consolation game at the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) national tournament on Monday, Mar. 11.

#7 Men’s Basketball falls to #10 PSU Wilkes-Barre in national tournament opener

PETERSBURG, Va.—The #7-seeded Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) men’s basketball team was defeated 80-49 by #10 Penn State University Wilkes-Barre in the opening round of the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) national tournament on Sunday, Mar. 10.

Men’s Basketball exits in YSCC semifinal round

CONCORD, N.H.—The Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) men’s basketball team suffered a 65-55 loss to the #6-seeded Mustangs from Central Maine Community College in the semifinal round of the Yankee Small College Conference (YSCC) playoff tournament on Saturday, Mar. 2.

#2 Men’s Basketball advances with quarterfinal win over #7 ACPHS

SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine—The Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) men’s basketball team defeated the #7 Panthers from Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences (ACPHS) 52-40 in the quarterfinal round of the Yankee Small College Conference (YSCC) playoff tournament Saturday, Feb. 24.

Seawolves get revenge on Knights 58-47

RANDOLPH, Vt.—The Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) men’s basketball team defeated the Knights of Vermont State University- Randolph 58-47 on the road and in its regular season finale Saturday, Feb. 17.

SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine—The Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) men’s basketball team defeated the USCAA Div. 1 Bengals from the University of Maine at Fort Kent (UMFK) 73-67 on Saturday, Feb. 10.

Men’s Basketball wins double overtime thriller vs. WCCC

SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine—The Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) men’s basketball team came out on top 78-75 in double overtime against the Golden Eagles from Washington County Community College (WCCC) on Wednesday, Feb. 7.
