SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine – Southern Maine Community College Athletics announces that Associate Head Men's Basketball Coach and Pathway Advisor AJ Burton will be departing the college to continue his professional career at the University of Alaska Anchorage.

SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine—At the conclusion of the semester, Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) Associate Dean of Athletics and Engagement Ethan Wells published the findings of the semi-annual Spring 2026 Athletics Engagement and Academic Report. The report shows student-athlete GPAs and retention rates based on United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) normal progress rules for athletic participation eligibility—a higher threshold than those standards of the College.

AUBURN, Maine -The fourth-seeded Southern Maine Community College men’s basketball team delivered a statement performance Saturday afternoon, knocking off top-seeded Central Maine Community College, 82-68, in the YSCC Semifinals at Kirk Hall. Behind a 31-point effort from freshman guard Chance Mercier (Ellsworth, Maine), the Seawolves used a second-half surge and perimeter shooting to secure their spot in the YSCC Championship.

RANDOLPH, Vt. — The Southern Maine Community College men’s basketball team saw its historic 13-game winning streak come to an end Saturday afternoon, falling 70-56 to Vermont State University Randolph at SHAPE Gym. The loss closes the longest win streak in program history, surpassing the previous mark of 12 straight victories set by the 1993-94 squad more than 30 years ago.

SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine — The Southern Maine Community College men’s basketball team delivered an 80-76 Senior Night victory over rival Central Maine Community College on Saturday evening at The HUB, extending its winning streak to 13 consecutive games - the longest win streak in program history. The previous record of 12 straight wins had stood for more than 30 years, set by the 1993-94 Seawolves squad.

This marks the 12th straight win for the SeaWolves, making it the longest win streak in over 30 years. The last time this was accomplished was in the 1993-94 season.
