Concord, NH. After having a few days off, the Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) softball team played a double header as they traveled to Yankee Small College Conference (YSCC) rival New Hampshire Technical Institute (NHTI). In game 1, the Seawolves were in control and up 4-2 until giving up 7 runs in the bottom of the fifth inning leading them to an 11-9 loss. In game 2, SMCC was up 2-1 going into the bottom of the 7th inning when the Lynx walked off scoring 2 runs and leaving the Seawolves with a 3-2 loss.
Leading the Seawolves in game 1 was freshman short stop Shannon Blanchard (Windsor, ME) who went 2 for 3 at the plate, drew a walk and scored a run. Sophomore outfielder Yaritza Tejada (Chelsea, MA) and 4 other Lady Seawolves all contributed a hit. Freshman pitcher Lindsey Howell (Limington, ME) picked up the loss.
In game 2, sophomore outfielder Yaritza Tejada (Chelsea, MA) scored a run and had 2 of the 5 SMCC hits. Freshman catcher Roberta Trafton (Corinth, ME), freshman short stop Shannon Blanchard (Windsor, ME) and freshman pitcher Lindsey Howell (Limington, ME) had the other 3 hits. Howell also picked up her 2nd loss of the day.
With both losses, SMCC drops to 6-16 overall and down to 6-6 in the Yankee Small College Conference (YSCC). The Seawolves will be back at it tomorrow Sunday, April 21st as Dean College comes to town for a double header. Games will be held at 1:00PM and 3:00PM.
