Women’s Basketball Beats Nova Scotia for First Win of the Season
The Southern Maine Community College women's basketball team beat Nova Scotia 62-57 in their second game of the CAN-AM tournament hosted by Central Maine Community College. The Seawolves played with a lot of intensity and showed control in the final minutes to hold off a late run by Nova Scotia. Freshmen Marissa Welch (Livermore, ME) led the team with 18 points and 13 rebounds while freshman Emily Bard (Fort Kent, ME) provided a spark off the bench hitting six of nine three point attempts for 18 points. Sophomore Jessica Truman (Gardiner, ME) was clutch down the stretch from the free throw line. Truman went 8 for 10 from the line and finished the game with 11 points.
With the win, the Seawolves move to 1-1 on the season. The team is back in action next Saturday, November 5th when they host Naval Academy Prep School.
