Seawolves Lose Opening Tournament Game to Central Maine Community College 80-64
The fifth-seeded Seawolves of Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) lost a tough battle to the fourth-seeded Mustangs of Central Maine Community College 80-64 in the second game of the YSCC Elite Eight Tournament. The score was tied at halftime, but the Seawolves couldn't keep up with the Mustang's depth and tempo that allowed CMCC to pull away in the second half.
Freshman guard Emily Bard (Fort Kent, ME) led the Seawolves with 20 points including 4 three-pointers, while freshman forward Katelyn Benson (Westbrook, ME) contributed a double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds. Sophomore point guard Hanna Lyons (Scarborough, ME) had a very strong performance in her final game in a Seawolves uniform. Lyons took on CMCC's full-court pressure for the entire game and also tallied 8 assists, 6 steals, 4 points and 3 rebounds.
The Seawolves finished the 2011-2012 season with a 15-12 overall record.
