Machias, ME. The Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) women's basketball team dropped the last game of their fall semester. The Lady Seawolves lost to Yankee Small College Conference (YSCC) opponent University of Maine Machias (UMM) by a final score of 60-47. SMCC was down at half by a score of 28-19 and was never able to recover.
The Lady Seawolves were led in a losing effort by junior guard Esther Palmieri (South Portland, ME) who led the scoring with 9 points and added 6 rebounds, 6 steals and 3 assists. Freshman guard Yaritza Tejada (Chelsea, MA) came off the bench with 7 points, 4 assists, 4 steals and 3 rebounds. Emily Bard (Fort Kent, ME), Alicia Hoyt (Steep Falls, ME) and Nyalieb Deng (Portland, ME) all added 6 points.
SMCC finishes the semester 9-4 overall and 5-3 in conference play. The Seawolves will take a break for the holidays and will be back in action Saturday January 5th against John Abbott College (JAC). Game time is scheduled for 6:00PM.
