SMCC Athletics inducts Hall of Fame class of 2024
CAPE ELIZABETH, Maine— Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) Athletics celebrated five individuals to its Hall of Fame class of 2024 on Friday, May 9.
CAPE ELIZABETH, Maine— Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) Athletics celebrated five individuals to its Hall of Fame class of 2024 on Friday, May 9.
Atencio Martin, Ryan Cloutier, Abigail Ramirez, Meranda Martin, and Matt Davis joined an elite group of 50 other individuals and two teams for their accomplishments on the playing surface and for their service to the college community.
The 19th annual induction was held at Purpoodock Golf Club and was attended by friends and family of the inductees, as well as support staff from the College. SMCC President Dr. Kristen Miller delivered opening remarks, and Chief of Institutional Advancement and Engagement Matt Richards served as emcee for the evening. The event featured video tributes, personal speeches from the inductees, and a celebration of SMCC’s storied athletic history.
Director of Athletics Ethan Wells reflected, “This is a very special event to me because it’s a reminder of how athletics and its impact can shape pathways, relationships, and achievement in all facets of life. I’m always in awe of when athletes meet and exceed these expectations as true leaders of their programs. For these reasons- Abi, Ryan, Atencio, Meranda and Matt will stand with an elite group of former athletes, coaches and support staff spanning decades of Seawolf accomplishment. I’m beyond thrilled to help enshrine this hall of fame class as they have and will continue to provide inspiration to future student-athletes and coaches.”

Class of 2024 Inductees
Atencio Martin (Men’s Basketball ’19)
A three-year member of the men’s basketball program (2013-15, 2018-19), Atencio Martin was a force on the court and a leader in the locker room. He earned two YSCC First Team All-Conference and two USCAA First Team All-American honors, was voted YSCC Player of the Year in 2019, and was selected to the YSCC Twin Decades Team. As a two-time captain, Martin led his team to two USCAA national tournament appearances and racked up 1,194 career points (6th all-time) while shooting 53.1% from the field. He added 668 rebounds, 175 assists, and 115 steals. Following SMCC, the Maine native signed a professional contract with BC Gyumri in Armenia.
Ryan Cloutier (Men’s Basketball ’19)
A consistent contributor across three seasons (2016-19), Ryan Cloutier earned two YSCC All-Conference selections and was named a USCAA First Team All-American in 2019. That same year, he served as co-captain and received the Carrol Rines Sports Person of the Year award. Cloutier helped the Seawolves win a YSCC title and reach the national tournament twice, compiling 1,205 points (5th all-time), 395 rebounds, 186 assists, 100 steals, and 74 blocks (4th all-time) in 89 career games.
Abigail Ramirez (Women’s Basketball ’19)
In just two seasons (2017-19), Abigail Ramirez etched her name in program history as a dynamic point guard and tenacious defender. She was a two-time All-Conference and two-time USCAA All-American selection, captaining the team to a USCAA national tournament appearance in 2019. Ramirez holds the program record for career steals (174) and ranks 2nd in assists (274) while scoring 581 points (10.6/g) and grabbing 363 rebounds. She continued her basketball career at the University of Southern Maine.
Meranda Martin (Softball ’19)
A two-year star for Seawolves Softball (2017-19), Meranda Martin excelled both offensively and in the circle. She was a two-time YSCC All-Conference and USCAA All-American, and a USCAA Academic All-American in 2019. Martin led the nation in stolen bases (44) in 2018 and was voted YSCC Player of the Year and Pitcher of the Year in 2019. The team captain and Twin Decades Team honoree recorded a .503 batting average, .577 on-base percentage, and 77 stolen bases (1st all-time). As a pitcher, she tallied 67 strikeouts in 73.1 innings with seven wins. Martin went on to play at Saint Joseph’s College of Maine.
Matt Davis (Men’s Soccer ’06)
A standout on the pitch from 2005-06, Matt Davis helped anchor the Seawolves’ defense and lead the program to a USCAA national tournament appearance. A two-time YSCC All-Conference honoree and a First Team USCAA All-American in 2006, Davis helped SMCC to a combined 17-11-1 record, including a 14-5 mark in conference play. Known for his defensive awareness and consistency, Davis was a key contributor during one of the program’s early successful runs.
