Knights Knock Off Seawolves, 11-6
South Portland - The Knights of Northern Essex CC used a six run, fourth inning to propel themselves to an 11-6 victory over the Seawolves of Southern Maine CC.

South Portland - The Knights of Northern Essex CC used a six run, fourth inning to propel themselves to an 11-6 victory over the Seawolves of Southern Maine CC.
Both teams were silent in the first two innings but Northern Essex managed two runs in the third to take the lead. The Seawolves still couldn't generate any offense and found themselves trailing 2-0 at the start of the fourth. Four consecutive singles by the Knights and an outfield error by the Seawolves sparked a scoring frenzy for NECC as they entered the bottom of the inning with an eight run lead. Seawolves designated hitter Caleb Burpee (Kennebunk, ME) halted the SM scoring drought when he batted in second baseman Edgar Montan (Dominican Republic) but that was all the team could muster in the fourth.
Three fly outs for the Knights put the Seawolves right back on offense with a chance to cut further into the 8-1 NECC lead. The Seawolves started the inning with two batters, Tucker Lee and Nate Boyle (Windham, ME), being hit by pitches and a Chase Morales (New Britain, CT) walk to load the bases. NECC pitcher C. Balbuena proceeded to walk SM's next batter, Tim Rodrigues (Barnstable, MA), which scored Lee and brought the score to 8-2. A sacrifice fly by Caleb Chambers (Lebanon, ME) brought Boyle home and an RBI single by Nathaniel Cyr (Freeport, ME) scored Morales.
The Seawolves contained the Knights, giving up a lone run in innings six, eight and nine but were unable to get their own offense rolling again until the ninth. Taking their last at bat, the Seawolves trailed 11-4. With one out and a runner of second, baseball newcomer Jordan Hachey hit an RBI double to give the Seawolves their fifth run. Hachey proceeded to score off a Sam Williams ground out to chalk up the sixth and final run for SMCC as they fell to the Knights 11-6.
