Athletics Engagement and Academic Report: Spring 2023

SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine— At the conclusion of the semester, Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) Associate Dean of Athletics and Alumni Affairs Matt Richards published the findings of the semi-annual Spring 2023 Athletics Engagement and Academic Report. The report shows student-athlete GPAs and retention rates based on United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) normal progress rules for athletic participation eligibility—a higher threshold than those standards of the College.

SMCC Athletics Celebrates Student-Athletes with Annual Awards Banquet

CAPE ELIZABETH, Maine—The Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) Athletics Department held its annual awards banquet on Tuesday, May 9 at Purpoodock Golf Club in celebration of its student-athletes and their many successes throughout the 2022-23 academic year and athletic seasons.

Seawolves Win Final Game of Season

PETERSBURG, Virginia – The Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) men’s basketball won its United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) national tournament consolation game against the 7-seeded Vikings from Villa Maria College, 76-70, on Tuesday, Mar. 14.

PETERSBURG, Virginia – The Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) men’s basketball team fell to Penn State Greater Allegheny (PSGA), 68-55, in the first round of the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) National Tournament on Monday, March 13.

AUBURN, Maine – The #4-seeded Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) men's Basketball team took down the #1-seeded Central Maine Community College (CMCC) Mustangs 62-59 in the semifinal round of the Yankee Small College Conference (YSCC) playoff tournament on Saturday, March 4.

(YSCC) – The Yankee Small College Conference (YSCC) kicks off the 2023 Elite 8 Final Four this Saturday, March 4 with the quarterfinal matchups and the finals on Sunday, March 5th. The Central Maine Community College (CMCC) Mustangs are the hosts for the tournament. The YSCC will stream the Season Awards Show Friday night, and all tournament games from Kirk Hall in Auburn, Maine.
