SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine— Men’s basketball senior Thomas Martinotti (Harwinton, Conn.) made program history by scoring his 1,000th career point in a Seawolves’ win over Washington County Community College on Saturday, Feb. 1.
Martinotti became the 21st player in men’s basketball history to achieve the feat, adding to his already impressive career resume. Serving as a two-time team captain, the 6’4’’ guard has helped SMCC to back-to-back Yankee Small College Conference (YSCC) championships in 2022 and 2023, and was a member of the 2022 United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) national championship team— the only USCAA team title in College history.
Individually, Martinotti has earned conference Player of the Week honors twice, selected an Elite 8 MVP, and has been both a YSCC All-Conference and USCAA All-American selection. With three regular season games remaining, the Connecticut native has amassed 1,014 career points, 57 away from breaking into the all-time top-10 list.
Head Men’s Basketball Coach Matt Richards commented, “I’m so incredibly proud of Tommy. He has been a player who has developed his game each year he has been with us. His accomplishment of joining the 1000-point club is a tribute to his work ethic and leadership as a Seawolf!”
