HOW IT HAPPENED
Southern Maine used balanced scoring and strong bench play to grab a 36–29 halftime lead. First-year guard Chance Mercier (Ellsworth, ME) got the SeaWolves on the board with three early free throws and was joined in the scoring by Ellis Macea (Lawrence, MA) and Sean Bosia (Dracut, MA), who helped spark a 13–3 run midway through the first half.
The SeaWolves' bench provided a huge lift, led by Franck Moron (Billerica, MA), Ebe Efosa-Aguobor (Lawrence, MA), and starter Sam DeWitt (Hudson, NH), combining for 29 points. Efosa-Aguobor drilled two threes and poured in 16 points on 7-of-9 shooting in just 18 minutes. Moron knocked down three triples and added 13 points and five assists, including a clutch three with under 3 minutes to play.
Despite the strong effort, the SeaWolves were outscored 49–39 in the second half.
