Softball Drops First 2 Spring Season Games
Briarcliffe,NY. The Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) softball team opened up their spring season today with a double header as they traveled to New York to face Briarcliffe College. The Seawolves dropped both games with a final score of 9-0 in the first and 9-1 in the second.
In the first of the double header the Seawolves were led by sophomore Kathryn Gilio (Hampden, ME) and freshman Meghan Mulkern (Gorham, ME) who each added a hit. Freshman pitcher Lindsey Howell (Limington, ME) got the loss.
In the second game, the Seawolves were led in a losing effort by freshman Lindsey Howell(Limington, ME) who went 2 for 2 with an RBI. Sophomore Yaritza Tejada (Chelsea, MA) added the only run for the Seawolves while freshman pitcher Shannon Blanchard (Windsor, ME) gets the loss.
With both losses, SMCC drops to 1-7 overall and remains 1-3 in the Yankee Small College Conference (YSCC). The Seawolves will travel home to host the University of Maine at Presque Isle (UMPI) on Friday April 5th. Game times are scheduled for 3:00pm and 5pm.
