Seawolves Drop Home Spring Season Opener

South Portland, ME. The Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) softball team played their first home games of the spring season tonight as they faced the Owls of University of Maine Presque Isle (UMPI). The Seawolves dropped both games in the double header. The Sewawolves started both games out in the hole and were never able to recover as they lost the first 13-3 and the second 12-3.
In the first of the double header the Seawolves were led by sophomore Antonetta Brown (Portland, ME) who went 1 for 1 while scoring 2 runs and drawing a walk. Sophomore Kathryn Gilio(Hampden, ME) went 1 for 3 with 2 RBI's and walk with freshman pitcher Shannon Blanchard (Windsor, ME) getting the loss.
In the second game, the Seawolves were led in a losing effort by freshman catcher Roberta Trafton (Corinth, ME) who went 1 for 2 while tallying an RBI, scoring a run and drawing a walk. Sophomore first baseman Kathryn Gilio(Hampden, ME) went 1 for 2 with an RBI while freshman pitcher Lindsey Howell(Limington, ME) gets the loss.
With both losses, SMCC drops to 1-9 overall and remains 1-3 in the Yankee Small College Conference (YSCC). The Seawolves will hold another double header tomorrow April 6th as YSCC opponent Eastern Maine Community College (EMCC) comes to town. Game times are scheduled for 1:00pm and 3:00pm.
