Seawolves Drop Double Header

Franklin, MA. The Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) softball team traveled to Dean College today to play a double header. The Seawolves dropped both games today as Dean was a tough opponent. In the first of the double header, SMCC lost 16-2 as they started out down 5-1 and couldn't recover. In the second game of the double header, the Seawolves couldn't find their rhythm on offense and lost 8-0.
In the first of the double header the Seawolves were led by freshman second baseman Kathryn Chicoine (Athol, MA) who ended up going 1 for 2 with an RBI. Freshman Meghan Mulkern (Gorham, ME) and sophomore Kathryn Gilio (Hampden, ME) each added a hit. Freshman pitcher Lindsey Howell(Limington, ME) picked up the loss.
In the second game, the Seawolves struggled offensively with only 3 hits. Sophomore Antonetta Brown (Portland, ME) went 1 for 1 and drew a walk. Freshman catcher Roberta Trafton (Corinth, ME) and freshman Kathryn Chicoine (Athol, MA) each added a hit. Freshman pitcher Lindsey Howell(Limington, ME) picked up her second loss of the day.
With both losses today, SMCC drops to 3-11 overall and remains 3-3 in the Yankee Small College Conference (YSCC). The Seawolves will have a couple days off before hosting YSCC rival Central Maine Community College (CMCC) this Thursday April 11th. Game time is scheduled for 4:00pm.
