Seawolves Sweep Eagles on Senior Day
South Portland - This afternoon the Lady Seawolves recognized lone senior, catcher Roberta Trafton (Corinth, ME) as she played in her final home games today against the Golden Eagles of EMCC. Trafton played a major role in helping her team snag two wins as she went seven for eight at the plate with seven runs scored, five RBI's and two stolen bases. The Seawolves triumphed over the Eagles 12-4 in the first game and 17-10 in the second.

Trafton played a major role in helping her team snag two wins as she went seven for eight at the plate with seven runs scored, five RBI's and two stolen bases. The Seawolves triumphed over the Eagles 12-4 in the first game and 17-10 in the second.
In the first game the Seawolves base ran with prowess, racking up twelve stolen bases, six of those twelve coming from shortstop Anna Allard (Parsonsfield, ME). The Seawolves held onto a 5-0 lead going into the the third when Golden Eagles' player Hannah Bess put her team in the books, scoring on a Seawolves error. EMCC scored an additional run in the top of the fourth cutting the Seawolves lead to three runs, 5-2. Lady Seawolves first baseman Kathryn Gilio (Hampden, ME) drove in a run in the bottom of the fourth followed by a two RBI double from third baseman Shannon Blanchard (Windsor, ME) to put the Seawolves on top 8-2. Each team put up two runs in the fifth, but the Seawolves were able to put the Eagles away in the sixth when Michela Desjardins (Fort Kent, ME) stole home, putting the Seawolves up by the mercy rule number of eight runs, giving SMCC the 12-4 win.
Game two looked like it may end in similar fashion when the Lady Seawolves were ahead 9-0 going into the fourth inning but the Golden Eagles thought otherwise as they scored eight runs in the fourth to cut the Seawolves lead to a lone run. The first batter up for the Seawolves in the fourth inning was left fielder Danielle Mobbs (Richmond, VT) who drilled a double and then stole third before right fielder Brittany Carver (Gardiner, ME) batted her in, extending the lead to two runs. The Eagles responded with two runs of their own in the top of the fifth to knot the game at ten runs apiece. Gilio put an end to that tie when she crushed a two RBI bomb over the centerfield fence. The Lady Seawolves racked up six runs in the fifth en route to a 17-10 victory. Trafton was 5-5 at the plate with four runs in game two.
With these wins the Lady Seawolves improve to 13-21 overall and 6-7 in conference play. After a six double headers in seven days the Lady Seawolves are taking a mini hiatus, returning to the field on Saturday April 26th at NHTI for the YSCC playoffs.
