Lady Seawolves Trample Mustangs 8-0
South Portland, ME- The Lady Seawolves chalked up six runs in the third innning of this afternoons YSCC softball to overcome the Central Maine CC Mustangs with a commanding 8-0 win.
South Portland, ME- The Lady Seawolves chalked up six runs in the third innning of this afternoons YSCC softball to overcome the Central Maine CC Mustangs with a commanding 8-0 win.
Lead-off batter Charlotte Lewis (Fryeberg, ME) opened the game with a double to put herself in scoring position before teammate Kathryn Gilio (Hampden, ME) brought her across the plate to give SMCC the 1-0 advantage.
The Seawolves went on a hitting frenzy in the third inning sparked by short stop Anna Allard (Parsonsfield, ME) who singled and stole second. Gilio, Danielle Mobbs (Richmond, VT), Zoey Proctor (Rockland, ME) and Amber Jones (Deer Isle, ME) all had singles, while teammates Alicia Hoyt (Steep Falls, ME) and Shannon Blanchard (Windsor, ME) each chipped in doubles to bring in six runs, extending the Seawolves lead to 7-0. The final run came in the fifth inning when Allard hit home Lewis to bring the Seawolves to victory.
The Lady Seawolves are now sporting a 9-6 overall record, while going 3-4 in conference play. Next up for the Seawolves will be conference rival NHTI on Saturday April 18th at home at 12 and 2 pm.
