Concord, NH - This afternoon the Lady Seawolves softball team wrapped up their fall season on the road at NHTI, playing YSCC opponent College of St. Joseph's (VT). The two teams met earlier this season for a doubleheader in which the Saints shut the Seawolves out. This outing SMCC fared better offensively, but still fell to CSJ 9-1.
The Seawolves were able to keep the Saints off the scoreboard through the first inning but CSJ managed to post three runs in the second to take the 3-0 lead. The third inning gave the Seawolves the most issues as the Saints rattled off six more runs to take a commanding 9-0 lead. SMCC started to rally in the fifth when Samantha Rioux (Lewiston, ME) had a base hit and proceeded to steal second and advance to third on a wild throwdown by the Saints. Catcher Aime Worcester (Naples, ME) batted Rioux in on the next play to get the Seawolves in the scoring column but that was all the offense the Seawolves could muster for the inning and the Saints took the game in five.
Erica Brochu (Lewiston, ME) and Grace Davis (Belfast, ME) pitched for the Seawolves giving up 11 hits and striking out one. CSJ pitcher Maggie Miller faced 17 batters and had three strikeouts.
The Seawolves ended the fall season 2-7 overall and in the YSCC.
