South Portland - The Saints of CSJ put on a dominant performance on Friday when they beat the Lady Seawolves in both games of a double header. The two teams were back at it yesterday and CSJ continued to roll, walking away with two victories, 20-2 and 10-1.
In the opening game the Seawolves started off hot scoring two runs in the first inning to make the score 3-2 in the top of the second. The Lady Seawolves runs came from leadoff batter Abigail Nielsen (North Yarmouth, ME), who was brought home on a Jennifer Genthner (Newcastle, ME) single, and by shortstop Micheala Willwerth (South Portland, ME), who was batted in by outfielder Samantha Rioux (Lewiston, ME). The Saints responded to the close score with a monster second inning, which included three consecutive homeruns by Emily Johnson, Sierra Jaeger and Maggie Miller, and they never looked back as they rolled to the 20-2 victory.
Game two didn't start out as well for the Seawolves as the Saints put up four runs in just the first inning to take a quick 4-0 lead. However the Seawolves were able to contain the CSJ in the remaining four innings, only giving up six runs. Unfortunately SMCC couldn't get the bats going, their lone run was scored by Willwerth who was batted in on an RBI single from Grace Davis (Belfast, ME). CSJ walked away with the 10-1 triumph.
The Lady Seawolves, now 7-18 on the year, will travel to Dean College on Monday for a pair of nonconference games.
