GAME ONE
AUBURN, MAINE – Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) softball opened Saturday's doubleheader with an 8-6 victory over Central Maine CC (CMCC), rallying behind a seven-run fifth inning.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
CMCC jumped out early, plating two in the first and two more in the third to build a 4-0 lead. The Seawolves broke through in the fifth, providing seven runs on eight hits, highlighted by a two-run triple from Carly Youngblood (Tracy, New Brunswick) and a solo home run from Ariana Cross (Orrington, Maine). Ella Voth (Lacombe, Alberta) added two doubles and an RBI as SMCC surged ahead 7-4.
The Mustangs pulled within 7-6 in the fifth, but the Seawolves tacked on an insurance run in the sixth and held on.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
In game two, offense was hard to come by for the Seawolves as CMCC earned the split with a 2-0 shutout win. The Mustangs pushed across both runs in the sixth inning, taking advantage of two walks, a hit batter, and a timely single.
Cassidy Dunham (Keene, N.H.) was strong in the circle for SMCC, throwing 6.0 innings and allowing just three hits while striking out five. But CMCC's Rousselle matched – firing a three-hit shutout.
