Seawolves Sweep Day 1 of Myrtle Beach Spring Trip
NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) softball opened its Monday slate with a 4-3 victory over Kaskaskia at the North Myrtle Beach Park and Sports Complex.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
The Seawolves broke a scoreless tie in the third inning. Taylor Swift (Keene, N.H.) started the rally with a single and later came around to score on a sacrifice fly from Hayley Cowan (Red Deer, Alberta). Emma Hartt (Edmonton, Alberta) scored on a Carly Youngblood (Tracy, New Brunswick) RBI single to center, giving SMCC a 2-0 lead.
Southern Maine added two more runs in the sixth. Sloan Scotvold (Red Deer, Alberta, Canada) sparked the inning with a single before Ariana Cross (Orrington, Maine) drove her home with a base hit to center. Cross later scored on a passed ball to extend the lead to 4-0.
Kaskaskia rallied late, capitalizing on defensive miscues to score two runs in the sixth and another in the seventh to pull within one. The Blue Angels brought the tying run aboard in the final inning, but Scotvold shut the door to secure the victory.
In the circle, Scotvold tossed a complete game, allowing just six hits and no earned runs while striking out three.

GAME TWO
HOW IT HAPPENED:
The Seawolves responded in game two with an offensive explosion, scoring 16 runs on 14 hits to defeat Penn State DuBois, 16-11.
Penn State DuBois jumped ahead early with an eight-run second inning, but SMCC quickly chipped away at the deficit. Carly Youngblood ignited the comeback with a two-run double in the third inning to get the Seawolves on the board.
SMCC took control in the middle innings. The Seawolves plated four runs in the fourth, highlighted by a two-run single from Jayden Tripp (Prospect, Maine) and an RBI knock from Scarlet Proc (Sydney, NSW). SMCC followed with a five-run fifth inning as Youngblood delivered a bases-clearing triple to right field.
The Seawolves sealed the win with another five-run burst in the seventh. Tripp tripled to start the inning and scored on a groundout before Ariana Cross ripped a three-run triple to center to cap the scoring.
Tripp finished with a huge day at the plate, going 3-for-3 with a triple, four runs scored, and two RBIs. Youngblood added five RBIs while Cross drove in three.
In the circle, Ava Dionne (Lewiston, Maine) earned the win with a complete game effort.
