SOUTH PORTLAND, MAINE — Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) softball battled back-and-forth before pulling away for a high-scoring 17-9 victory over Central Maine Community College (CMCC) on Tuesday evening.

GAME ONE
SOUTH PORTLAND, MAINE — Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) softball battled back-and-forth before pulling away for a high-scoring 17-9 victory over Central Maine Community College (CMCC) on Tuesday evening.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Mustangs came out swinging, plating four runs in the top of the first inning behind a three-run home run to take an early lead.
SMCC responded immediately in the bottom half, planting six runs to jump in front 6-4, capitalizing on defensive miscues and aggressive baserunning.
CMCC answered again in the second inning with four runs to reclaim an 8-6 advantage, but the Seawolves delivered the decisive blow in the bottom of the second, powering eight runs across the plate to take control 14-8.
The Seawolves continued to apply pressure, adding three more runs in the fourth inning to seal the 17-9 win.

GAME TWO
HOW IT HAPPENED
SMCC jumped out to a fast start, scoring five runs in the first inning to take early control.
After a quiet second inning, CMCC responded with a seven-run inning in the top of the third to take a 7-5 advantage.
Southern Maine answered, planting a run in the bottom half of the frame followed by two more runs in the fourth inning. The Seawolves broke the game open in the fifth with a seven-run frame to secure the 15-7 victory.
