GAME ONE
AUGUSTA, MAINE — Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) softball delivered a strong performance on Tuesday evening, powering past the University of Maine at Augusta, 10-2.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Seawolves struck early, opening the scoring in the first inning on an RBI single from Sloan Scotvold (Red Deer, Alberta, Canada) before adding another run in the second on an Emma Hartt (Edmonton, Alberta, Canada) base hit.
After UMA tied the game at 2-2 in the third inning on a two-run home run, Southern Maine responded immediately in the fourth. Ella Voth (Lacombe, Alberta, Canada) delivered a go-ahead double to bring in two runs, and a groundout by Ariana Cross (Orrington, Maine) extended the lead to 5-2.
SMCC broke the game open in the fifth inning plating five runs. Taylor Swift (Keene, N.H.) drove in two with a single, Hayley Cowan (Red Deer, Alberta, Canada) launched a two-run home run, and Drea Rideout (Yarmouth, Maine) added an RBI knock to cap the scoring and secure the 10-2 victory.

GAME TWO
HOW IT HAPPENED
SMCC jumped out to an early lead in the first inning, as Scotvold doubled to drive in two runs and give the Seawolves a 2-0 advantage.
UMA answered immediately with a five-run bottom of the first inning to take control of the game and never looked back. The Moose continued to add on with runs in the second and third innings, extending the lead to 7-2.
The Seawolves showed fight in the fifth inning, as Rideout launched a two-run home run and Cross followed with a solo shot to cut into the deficit, but UMA responded with additional runs to close out the 13-5 result.
