Pottersville, N.Y. — The Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) women's basketball team delivered an 83-47 victory over Word of Life on Friday evening to earn a YSCC road win.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Seawolves opened the afternoon with their best quarter of the season, producing a 26–4 first-quarter lead behind sharp defense and perimeter shooting. Julia Reed (Gorham, Maine) knocked down an early three, and Kylie Young (Westbrook, Maine) sparked a flurry of transition scoring that quickly put SMCC in control.
The strong play continued in the second frame. Taylor Renna (Pembroke, N.H.) provided instant offense off the bench, hitting a pair of threes to help the Seawolves push the margin to 41–16 at halftime.
After the break, SMCC's depth took over. Skyler Tinker (Trescott Twp., Maine) powered through the lane for multiple second-chance baskets, and Reed buried another three as the Seawolves stretched the lead. A 24-point third quarter effectively sealed the result.
The fourth quarter saw balanced contributions across the roster. Ashley Mullen (Oakland, Maine), Mia Gumaa (Manchester, N.H.), and Emily Clark (Berwick, Maine) all added steady scoring as SMCC closed out the 36-point win.
