11 Straight: Seawolves Post Longest Win Streak in Over a Decade

SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine — The Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) women's basketball team took on Washington County Community College, earning an 81-55 victory on Friday night at The HUB. The win solidified the longest win streak since 2011.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Washington County struck first with an early three, but SMCC quickly seized control behind drives from Jade Trueman (Sanbornville, NH) and perimeter shooting from Ashley Mullen (Oakland, ME). Mullen knocked down three triples in the opening quarter as the Seawolves opened a double-digit advantage and led 25-12 after one.
SMCC continued to apply pressure in the second quarter, getting contributions throughout the lineup. Darby Flanagan (Dresden, ME) finished around the rim, while Julia Reed (Gorham, ME) and Kylie Young (Westbrook, ME) sparked transition offense off turnovers. The Seawolves entered halftime leading 42-26.
Washington County tried to build momentum in the third but was met with an immediate responses from the Seawolves offense. Mckenna Johnson (Gardiner, ME) hit a pair of threes while Trueman converted multiple second-chance opportunities. SMCC stretched the margin to 66-43 entering the final frame.
SMCC maintained its defense in the fourth. The Seawolves continued to move the ball, closing out the contest 81-55.
