Athletics Engagement and Academic Report: Spring 2024

SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine— At the conclusion of the semester, Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) Associate Dean of Athletics and Alumni Affairs Matt Richards published the findings of the semi-annual Spring 2024 Athletics Engagement and Academic Report. The report shows student-athlete GPAs and retention rates based on United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) normal progress rules for athletic participation eligibility—a higher threshold than those standards of the College.

SMCC Athletics celebrates student-athletes with annual awards banquet

CAPE ELIZABETH, Maine—The Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) Athletic Department held its annual awards banquet on Tuesday, May 7 at Purpoodock Golf Club in celebration of its student-athletes and their many successes throughout the 2023-24 academic year and athletic seasons.

The Yankee Small College Conference announced its Academic All-Conference team from the first semester, 2023. We are proud to have so many outstanding student-athletes who represent our institutions from Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Maine, Vermont, and New York.

Women’s Volleyball makes YSCC finals appearance

SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine—The Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) women’s volleyball program finished its third season in existence with a first ever Yankee Small College Conference (YSCC) finals appearance. The championship tournament was hosted by SMCC on Sunday, Oct. 22.

Women's Volleyball blanked at NECC

HAVERHILL, Mass.-- The Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) women's volleyball team was defeated 3-0 at Northern Essex Community College (NECC) in non-conference play on Wednesday, Sept. 27.

Seawolves fall to USCAA Div. 1 Bengals

SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine-- The Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) women's volleyball team suffered a 3-0 defeat at the hands of USCAA Div. 1 University of Maine at Fort Kent in non-conference action on Monday, Sept. 26.
