HOW IT HAPPENED:
CMCC struck first in the opening set, building separation behind swings from Natalie Roy. Despite a late push sparked by Meryk Lewellen (Gorham, Maine), the Mustangs held on to take it 25–21.
The Seawolves answered back in the second. Yana Montell (Gardiner, Maine) dropped in an early ace, while Lewellenand Kadie Madera (Sanford, Maine) provided steady offense at the net. Amala Rumma delivered an ace and a quick set kill to swing momentum, and SMCC closed on a 4–1 run to even the match 1-1 (25–22).
The third belonged to SMCC. Montell's service streak set the tone before transferring duties to Rumma who tallied two aces while Madera and Sivan Semo (Rollinsford, N.H.) added kills to keep the streak alive. Dalia Nelson (Kennebunk, Maine) added a pair of aces late, while Lewellen ended rallies at the net as SMCC ran away, 25–8.
The Seawolves carried that energy into the fourth. Lilly Andreasen (Gorham, Maine) fueled an early surge with two kills and a service ace, before Lewellen and Mikayla Bellman (Silver Spring, Md.) scored through the middle to extend the lead. CMCC clawed back to tie it at 20–20, but SMCC closed the door with a decisive 5–0 run powered by Semo and Rumma to finish it, 25–20.
