(Ouellette) Cote, Findlay Enshrined To SeaWolves HOF, Class of 2018
SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine—Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) Athletics enshrined two alumni as part of the class of 2018 to the SeaWolves Hall of Fame on Saturday, Nov. 3. Elizabeth (Ouellette) Cote and Coleman Findlay joined an elite group of 30 individuals and one team for their accomplishments on the basketball court and for their service to the SMCC Athletics community.
SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine—Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) Athletics enshrined two alumni as part of the class of 2018 to the SeaWolves Hall of Fame on Saturday, Nov. 3. Elizabeth (Ouellette) Cote and Coleman Findlay joined an elite group of 30 individuals and one team for their accomplishments on the basketball court and for their service to the SMCC Athletics community.
The 13th annual induction ceremony was held at North 43 Bistro met with friends and family of the inductees in addition to faculty, staff, and student-athlete support. Director of Athletics Matt Richards MC’d the event among speeches from SMCC President Joseph Cassidy, SeaWolves Athletic Club President Eric Bruneau, the inductors, and the inductees.
Elizabeth (Ouellette) Cote (‘08 Women’s Basketball)
Cote was a four-year member of the women’s basketball team (2004-08) who played in 97 career games as a SeaWolf. She ranks first all-time in points (1140), rebounds (757), and blocks (177). Cote was a team captain and a two-time Yankee Small College Conference (YSCC) champion in 2006 and 2008—making United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) National Tournament appearances in the same seasons. A USCAA Honorable Mention All-American, Cote finished her career averaging 11.8 PPG, 7.8 REB/G.
Coleman Findlay (‘11 Men’s Basketball/Baseball)
Findlay was a four-year member of the men’s basketball team (2007-11) and three-year contributor to the baseball program (2007-09). He is the only SMCC student-athlete to be named a USCAA All-American in two different sports. On the hardwood, Findlay owns the all-time program record in points (1713) and averaged 16.0 per game spanning 107 career contests. He ranks third in rebounds (753) and 10th in steals (117). As a pitcher, Findlay ranks fourth all-time in ERA (2.49) among those with 50 or more innings pitched.
Richards summed up the event stating, “Elizabeth and Coleman accomplished spectacular feats here at SMCC—those forever etched in the record books. Both are true representatives of what it means to be a student-athlete and I’m extremely pleased to officially induct them as class of 2018.”
