Burbank and Herrin Named SeaWolves of the Week

SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine— Sophomore Elle Burbank (Bethel, Maine) and sophomore Amos Herrin (Wilton, Maine) were named SeaWolves of the Week on Monday, April 17.

Burbank, of SMCC’s softball team, led her team to a 4-1 record last week in defeating SUNY Delhi and winning the four-game series over the College of St. Joseph (VT). The sophomore catcher collected nine hits and two walks in 20 plate appearances spanning five games. She also recorded a 1.000 fielding percentage and threw a runner out at second base in her defensive efforts. Burbank’s most impressive afternoon was in the finale of the doubleheader against CSJ on Saturday, April 15 when she went 3-4 from the dish with an RBI and two runs scored.

Herrin, of the baseball team, collected two hits and worked a walk in 12 plate appearances last week, and, in making his third start of the season, the right-hander pitched a complete six innings against a dangerous Community College of Rhode Island (CCRI) line-up on Saturday, April 15. Herrin allowed just two earned runs and struck out seven despite a 2-1 SMCC loss.
