Mustangs Clip Seawolves in Extras

AUBURN, MAINE – Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) baseball fell 8-7 in extra innings to Central Maine Community College (CMCC) in a conference matchup Saturday at CMCC.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
The Seawolves jumped out quickly, plating two runs in both the first and second innings to take a 4-1 lead. Tyler Herkalo (Parkton, Md.) sparked the offense, reaching base three times early, while Dom Smith (Biddeford, Maine) doubled and scored. Samuel Potié (Gatineau, Quebec) added a sacrifice fly to extend the lead.

In the top of the eighth, Herkalo launched a two-run homer to right, and Potié added an RBI single to briefly put the Seawolves back in front 7-3.

CMCC chipped away throughout the game with single runs in the first, second, and fifth innings before rallying for four in their half of the eighth inning. After SMCC was retired in the ninth and tenth, CMCC walked it off in the bottom of the 10th on a sacrifice fly.
