LINCOLN, R.I.—The Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) men's soccer program recorded its fifth shutout of the season in a non-conference contest at the Community College of Rhode Island (CCRI) on Saturday, Sept. 28.
First-year Keto Tchiputo (Portland, Maine) recorded his tenth goal of the season at the beginnings of the first half when he collected a shot-save out the air behind the CCRI defense and put the road team ahead 1-0—sophomore captain Maxwell Pushaw (Hope, Maine) credited with the assist.
First-year Blake Collins (Calais, Maine) doubled the SeaWolf lead finishing a delivery across the box from first-year forward Mohamed Matan (Lewiston, Maine) at the 70 minute-mark. It was too little too late for CCRI who suffered its fifth defeat of the fall.
SMCC improves to 8-1-0 overall and remains 5-0 in the Yankee Small College Conference (YSCC) standings.
The SeaWolves will look to tie a program record 9-game win streak when they invade conference-opponent Unity College (4-4-0) on Wednesday, Oct. 2. Kickoff is scheduled for 3 p.m. in Unity, Maine.
