The Lady Knights came out strong jumping out to an 8-0 lead after two innings of play. Trailing eight in the bottom of the fourth centerfielder Michaela Desjardins (Fort Kent, ME) hit an RBI single to drive in a run and put the Lady Seawolves on the scoreboard. Shortstop Anna Allard (Parsonsfield, ME) followed up with a bomb over the centerfield fence, scoring three runs and closing the lead to four. Catcher Roberta Trafton (Corinth, ME) nailed an RBI double to close out the inning, giving the Seawolves five scores. Unfortunately the offensive fire power from the fourth inning did not carry over in the final three innings as the Seawolves came up short, 12-6. Leftfielder Danielle Mobbs (Richmond, VT) went three for three at the plate with two singles and a double to go along with a stolen base, an RBI and a run.
In game two the Lady Seawolves found themselves trailing 6-2 in the bottom of the second with two outs when Allard doubled and stole third to put herself in scoring position. Pitcher Charlotte Lewis (Chatham, NH) singled to bring Allard across the plate. Behind Lewis, Trafton hit an RBI double and then first baseman Kathryn Gilio (hampden, NH) hit Trafton home with an RBI single of her own. Gilio stole second on a wild pitch before Mobbs crushed a double that brought her in for the score. The Seawolves had fought their way back to tie the game and with runners on second and third right fielder Brittany Carver (Gardiner, ME) nailed the go ahead two RBI double that put the Seawolves on top 8-6. The Seawolves held this lead until the top of the sixth when CCRI catcher Sam Archanboult hit an RBI double to pull the Knights to within one. Shortstop Ashley Spear then batted in two more runs to put CCRI back on top 9-8 but the Seawolves responded when Lewis batted in Allard to knot the game at nine runs apiece. With one out in the top of the seventh Lady Knights' second baseman Ashley Boucher singled to get on base before being knocked in by an RBI from teammate Alex Place. The Seawolves had the game tying runner on base in the bottom of the seventh but could not find a way to bring her home, falling to CCRI 10-9 in a close fought battle.
The Seawolves are now 11-17 overall but will return to the field tomorrow for their fourth consecutive double header at home, this time taking on YSCC foe NHTI at 12pm.
