The Seawolves were able to keep the score in check in game one for the first five innings as they trailed only 5-0, but a dreadful nine run sixth inning was the demise of SMCC. The Lady Seawolves commited seven costly errors and the Lady Lynx came up with big hits, a homerun and two triples, as they cruised to a 14-0 victory. Pitcher Erica Brochu (Lewiston, ME) threw the entire game, facing 35 batters and giving up 18 hits.
Game two was more competitive for the Seawolves as they extended the game to a full seven innings. SMCC trailed 6-0 in the bottom of the fifth when third baseman Shannon Blanchard (Windsor, ME) crushed a double to put herself in scoring position. A sliding run into third by Blanchard followed by an RBI single from second baseman Zoey Proctor (Rockland, ME) brought across the Seawolves lone run of the contest. The Lynx tacked on four more runs in the remaining two innings as they picked up the 10-1 win. Lynx' centerfielder Masha Lange led the NHTI offense with two RBIs while hitting a double, a triple and a homerun.
With these two losses the Seawolves drop to 6-11 overall with seven games remaining in the season. Next up for SMCC will be the College of St. Joe's on the road Monday afternoon at 1 and 3pm.
