SMCC Softball To Offer Pitching/Catching Clinic

SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine— The Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) softball program and Head Coach Ray Magnant will hold an indoor pitching and catching clinic inside the HUB Gymnasium on the South Portland campus every Sunday for 10 sessions beginning September 10^th and finishing November 12^th. The clinic will be open to girls in grades 2-8.

Instruction will be provided by 2017 Yankee Small College Conference (YSCC) Coach of the Year Ray Magnant and Assistant Coach Dennis Howe as well as members of the 2017-18 SMCC softball team. The clinic will offer instruction in the following areas:

• Pitching and catching (adjusted for both beginners and advanced)
• Basic mechanics, pitching and fielding drills
• Technique in Windmill style pitching
• Increasing pitching velocity, improvement on location, and developing a change-up
• Catching set-up, framing, and blocking

Pitchers are strongly encouraged to provide their own catcher. Catchers must supply their own equipment.

Cost: $100- Individual, $140- Family of two
Location: 2 Fort Road, South Portland, Maine 04106
Time: 6-7 pm (Grades 2-4), 7:15-8:15 pm (Grades 5-8)

All proceeds of the clinic will help fund the team's travel expenses to spring training in Florida in 2018.
