Athletics Engagement and Academic Report: Spring 2023

SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine— At the conclusion of the semester, Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) Associate Dean of Athletics and Alumni Affairs Matt Richards published the findings of the semi-annual Spring 2023 Athletics Engagement and Academic Report. The report shows student-athlete GPAs and retention rates based on United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) normal progress rules for athletic participation eligibility—a higher threshold than those standards of the College.

SMCC Athletics Celebrates Student-Athletes with Annual Awards Banquet

CAPE ELIZABETH, Maine—The Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) Athletics Department held its annual awards banquet on Tuesday, May 9 at Purpoodock Golf Club in celebration of its student-athletes and their many successes throughout the 2022-23 academic year and athletic seasons.

SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine – The Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) softball team came up short in both games of its Yankee Small College Conference (YSCC) doubleheader with the USCAA #2-ranked Mustangs from Central Maine Community College (CMCC) on Friday, Apr. 21.

PORTLAND, Maine—Join Southern Maine Community College Athletics at Bayside Bowl (58 Alder St. Portland, Maine) on the evening of Friday, February 17 to gather in the name of Timothy D. Hagerman and reminisce with former teammates and coaches! The event will begin at 6:30 p.m. and is open to all SMCC Athletics alumni. The space will feature a private mezzanine with appetizers provided and a cash bar.

AUBURN, Maine – The Seawolves (1-7) showed plenty of promise on both sides of the ball despite dropping both games of a doubleheader with the Mustangs of Central Maine Community College (4-0).

SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine – On a perfect afternoon for softball at the Graves Athletic Field on the campus of Southern Maine Community College, the SeaWolves (1-3) were defeated by the rival Mustangs (2-0) in both games of Friday’s doubleheader.

SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine – The SeaWolves offense got going early and often, tallying 26 total runs on the day as they split a doubleheader with the Nor’easters to open the season at Graves Athletic Field.
