AUBURN, Maine—The Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) women’s soccer team won its 10th game of the season in a 3-0 result over the Mustangs from Central Maine Community College (CMCC) on Tuesday, Oct. 16.
First-year Bernise Bartlett (Dover-Foxcroft, Maine) made headlines with her first collegiate goal on a come-backer from beyond the box in the 35th minute. More action in the second half featured senior captain Emily Harris (Dayton, Maine) converting on a penalty kick for her fifth goal of the season, and junior Jessica Haskell (Saco, Maine) finishing on a ball from sophomore captain Callie O’Brien (South Portland, Maine) to put the road team up by three scores and keep the perfect away record intact (5-0).
The SeaWolf defense anchored by first-years Ashley Atwater (Saco, Maine), Paige Lord (Pittsfield, Maine), Brenna Frye (Lebanon, Maine), and junior Sophia Zidow (Scarborough, Maine) didn’t allow the Mustangs a shot to pitch another shutout and improve on their 0.64 goals-against-average.
