Double Down: Seawolves Take Two From GBCC
SOUTH PORTLAND, MAINE – Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) baseball opened Saturday’s doubleheader with a 6-4 win over the Great Bay Community College Herons in a seven-inning contest at home.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
The Seawolves wasted no time, striking for three runs in the bottom of the first. They added another in the third and two more in the fourth to create enough separation despite a late push from the Herons.
Thomas Marcotte (Acushnet, Mass.) paced the offense with a 2-for-3 effort, driving in two runs with a double. Landon Sirois (Biddeford, Maine) also contributed two RBIs, while Michael Pierce (Greenfield, Mass.) added a hit, RBI, walk, and stolen base. Dom Smith (Biddeford, Maine) reached twice and scored, and Quinntin Gillies (Oshawa, Ontario) sparked the lineup with two walks, a stolen base, and a run.
On the mound, Zach Kassim (Fr.) made the start before turning it over to Carter Collin (Winthrop, Maine), who earned the win with 2.1 innings of work and three strikeouts. Mattias Cobham (Saint John, Canada) closed the door with 1.2 innings of shutout relief and four punchouts to secure the save.

The Seawolves' bats stayed hot in game two, piling up 12 hits in an 11-3 victory to complete the sweep. SMCC scored in five of the first six innings, including a decisive five-run fourth that put the game out of reach.
Alex Bartlett (Thomaston, Maine) led the charge, going a perfect 3-for-3 with a double, three RBIs, and a run scored. Quinntin Gillies crossed home three times and added an RBI, while Thomas Marcotte chipped in two hits, two runs, and an RBI. Landon Sirois tallied two hits, scored twice, and stole a base. Dom Smith and Mattias Cobham each drove in runs to round out the balanced offense.
On the hill, Jacob Watkinson (Owls Head, Maine) picked up his first collegiate win, tossing four innings with five strikeouts while allowing just one earned run. Noah Gaghan (Brunswick, Maine) and Mitchel Violette (Fr.) combined to finish the final three innings, giving up only one run.
