HOW IT HAPPENED:
SMCC struck early, putting together a four-run first inning to take control. A defensive error opened the scoring before Tristan Laplante (Durham, Maine) delivered an RBI single. Michael Pierce (Greenfield, Mass.) followed with a two-run double, giving the Seawolves the quick 4-0 advantage.
The Seawolves added to their lead in the third inning, as Quinntin Gillies (Oshawa, Ontario) lifted a sacrifice fly to bring home another run and extend the margin to 5-0.
SMCC continued to apply pressure throughout the game, eventually pushing across two more runs while finishing with 10 hits on the day.
On the mound, the Seawolves were commanding from start to finish. Garrett McLeod (Winterport, Maine) delivered an outstanding performance, tossing 8.0 shutout innings while allowing just two hits and striking out five without issuing a walk. Pierce opened the game with a scoreless inning to help set the tone.
