Three in a Row: Seawolves Record Third Consecutive Shutout at Massasoit

TAUNTON, MASS. - Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) baseball concluded its series vs Massasoit Community College with a 19-0 victory Saturday afternoon at Taunton High School on March 21, 2026.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
The Seawolves wasted no time getting on the board in the first inning. Bryce Wilcox (Strong, Maine) singled and stole second before Tyler Herkalo (Parkton, Md.) ripped an RBI triple to bring him home. Thomas Marcotte (New Bedford, Mass.) followed with a sacrifice fly, and Tristan Laplante (Durham, Maine) added an RBI double to give SMCC an early 3-0 lead.
Southern Maine broke the game open in the fourth inning, plating 11 runs in a two out rally. The Seawolves drew multiple walks and capitalized on errors. Quinntin Gillies (Oshawa, Ontario) cracked a two-run single before Mitchel Violette (Westbrook, Maine) drew a walk to bring home Gillies. Connor Boulette (Westbrook, Maine) delivered a bases-clearing double and later scored on an error. Marcotte provided a RBI single before a pair of runs score off pitching errors. Laplante drove in Samuel Potié (Gatineau, Quebec) on a double to left, extending the lead to 14-0 at the end of the 4th.
The Seawolves added five more runs in the fifth inning to cap the scoring. Boulette drove in another run, while Potié and Laplante each contributed RBI hits as SMCC pushed the final margin to 19-0.
The Seawolves finished with 13 hits and 12 walks, applying constant pressure on the Massasoit pitching staff.
On the mound, Michael Pierce (Greenfield, Mass.) set the tone with three hitless innings, striking out four. Cole Payne (Bangor, Maine) followed with a scoreless inning, and Nick St. Cyr (Rutland, Mass.) closed out the game to complete the combined shutout.
